What a fantastic last week of Summer 1 we have had!!!
We have had a brilliant time learning our topic of 'around the world' looking at a different country every week, learning new languages and using google maps to see some amazing tourist spots in the countries.
We looked at the UK, Africa, Japan and Italy.
This week we focused on Italy!!!
We had fun sharing our experiences of Italy- some of us have been on holiday here.
We had a wonderful time visiting Church this week and we even saw Wiggle.
We looked at all the special things inside our Church and we went on a word hunt to find the items we have been learning about in RE.
We have also celebrated bee day on Wednesday. We talked about why bee's are so special and did some wonderful activities with crafts and loose parts.
We started our wonderful week off with a nice walk to Church, we met Andrea at Church where she welcomed us all in. We loved how big Church is and how beautiful it is too. Andrea talked about all the special things inside Church and even showed us some items that we have been learning about this half term in RE.
We went around the Church and talked in our groups about what we could see, we saw lots of crosses, a font, stained glass windows with Jesus and the pews.
Andrea and Wiggle read us a story and we sang a lovely song with some actions we created together.
Andrea then asked us to find something special in the Church to draw. We loved picking something we likes and recreating it.
In Drawing Club this week we focused on Italy. We looked on google maps at all the different attractions around Italy, we looked at the different transport used around Italy and compared them to the transport we have in Bury.
Our book this week was Piccolo. We thought he was really cute and loved his blue scooter.
On Day 1- we drew Piccolo
On Day 2- We drew the streets of Italy
On day 3- We drew a new form of transport for Piccolo
On Day 4- We drew a new stall Piccolo could visit
We watched a fun video of someone travelling around Italy, we even saw the ice cream shop that Piccolo visited.
In Maths we looked at our counting skills, we used a drum to create a rhythm of beats and we counted them. We all took turns beating the drum and creating different beats each time.
We then used our magic maths wand to count all the children, we all started at different points and used our cardinality skills to work our how many children we had each time.
In PE we enjoyed using our balancing skills again, we looked at different stretches to warm up and worked in different groups practicing our team work with our friends.
On Wednesday we celebrated National Bee Day. We talked about why bee's are so important and why God would want us to look after one of his creatures. We watched some bees make honey and watched how honey is collected and bottled up where we can buy it.
We did some different activity's to celebrate. We coloured some bee's in, used bee tissue paper to create a collage, splatted the bee sounds, used yellow loose parts for the number of bee's and used ink to create finger bee's. Miss Callaghan also gave us lots of bee stickers to add to our pictures.
Finally to finish the term off we had our Italy Day. We came to school dressed in the flag colours- red, white and green. Some of us even had all three colours!!! Miss Callaghan was very impressed.
We started the day off learning a traditional Italian dance, used loose part pasta to create some building and famous statues, created our own Pizza bagels, created our own Italian flag and created our very own Italian bracelets and necklaces using painted pasta.
We really had so much fun doing this. Some of us created very special necklaces for some very special adults around the school.
Some of our wonderful children had made beautiful necklaces for Miss Dean, Mrs Dickerson, Miss Shaw, Mrs Naz, Miss Latham, Miss Fox, Mrs Iving's, Miss Robinson and Miss Fairfax. All the adults were so excited and love their Italian gift.
Finally we had a little surprise. Nursery have been learning about explorers and Dinosaurs. We had a little scary surprise on Friday... It was... MISS LATHAM!!!!
