On Monday in Maths we looked at objects with similarities and differences. We group different objects bases on their colour, shape, size and names. We looked at what we could see was the same about them and what things we knew was different. We used a lot of partner talk with our shoulder partner to discuss this.

Miss Callaghan brought some different coloured shaped buttons, we talked about how each one was different shapes and colours and we grouped them in colours and then grouped them in the same shapes. Miss Callaghan also brought some coloured ice blocks we talked about how they was different but we had equal amounts of both the groups.

A few children during provision time really enjoyed creating their own show with the stage. They set up some chairs to create an audience and took it in turns to create their very own puppet show.

We heard lots of laughs, cheers and even some boos to the bad guys from the audience. The children really enjoyed it.

On Wednesday in maths we worked together in groups to look at odd and even numbers. We used numicon to help us see what numbers were odd and even. We talked about what made the number odd and how we knew the number was odd and what made a number even and how we know it is even.

We then worked in our groups and sorted out odd and even numbers. We used felt tips to draw around the different numicon in the right groups.

Odd and Even

On Friday we played a game in Maths. We had two teams team odd and team even. We had to find the correct numbers to match out team

In our Mountain Challenges we have created a surprise Challenge. During the week there will be one extra mountain challenge, once you have done all three this extra one means you can go on the princess castle or the scary dragon. We have loved this and Reception picked their own pictures of these to use on the mountain.

In RE we have continued to look at special places and the different types of special places of worship. We looked at our school Church and talked about why it is so special, what makes it special and how it makes people feel. We spoke about our trip next week to church also. Some of the children talked about similarities and differences between a Church and a Mosque. Some of the children showed us in circle time how they pray at Mosque and some children showed us how they prayed at Church. The children really enjoyed sharing their experiences of this and loved to show their friends.
