Week 6

Happy Easter Reception Callaghan

Happy Easter Reception!

We have had another fantastic term in Spring Term 2. We have had lots of new learning, lots of new activity's and most of all lots of new memories created.

We have had lots of fun especially in the nicer weather we have had and we have used that lovely weather this week for outdoor learning.

This week we have been on our Farm Trip, had our Eater Bonnet parade and been on an Easter Egg hunt. We have made our Easter cards and done lots of Easter crafts with glitter and stickers. It has been so much fun.

Let's take a look at what we have done this week.

We started our Monday morning off with our Phonics Stay and Play it was so lovely to see more parents attend this week and was lovely to see parents who came for the firs time too! Thank you all for supporting us during this half term and thank you for attending. We had lots of parents attend this week which was lovely to see.

On Monday we completed our first Mountain Challenge of the week. Miss Callaghan gave us some baskets with eggs on and some cvc words. We had to write in our special eggs what we could see. Some of us wrote "fish" "bug" "bag" "dog" "cat". We then could move our faces up the mountain.

In Maths we have been looking at fewer than and more than. We used our number block knowledge to order the numbers and talk about which numbers were one more than another.

5 is one more than 4

6 is one more than 5

7 is one more than 6

8 is one more than 7

4 is one less than 5

3 is one less than 4

2 is one less than 3

1 is one less than 2

We talked about the numbers having a 'staircase' pattern and each time a number goes up it is one more than the number before. We even made our own staircases using cubes and showed our friends.

On Monday we used some rabbit ears and used our new Easter photobooth to take some pictures for our families. We found this really fun and even did some rabbit poses to show each other how they hop.

On Monday Reception helped Miss Callaghan with a very important job. Miss Callaghan needed some help cleaning the outdoor toys and furniture. Reception helped Miss Callaghan with lots of warm soapy water and sponges. We had so much fun and couldn't stop laughing the whole time.

Spring Clean Outside

On Tuesday we went on a very special trip to Smithills Farm in Bolton. We were really excited to get on the coach and to see all the different animals in the farm.

When we arrived we had a special guide who worked there called Lauren who was with us all day. She helped show us around the farm and teach us the different facts about the animals. She introduced us to a lot of animals, showed us how to feed the different animals and told us how old they are and what they like to do.

There were so many different animals there and one we was really interested in was Jack the Donkey who we fed bread and Autumn the cow who was only 4 week old.

When we got to the farm we went straight to the sheep and Lauren showed us how to feed the sheep. We had a bucket full of food for them, she then introduced us to the baby goats and mummy goats we also fed them too.

After Lauren showed us the Llamas and pigs with the piglets, we fed the Llamas.

We went in to the reptile room where we was introduced to Thunder the bearded Dragon. He was so cute Lauren came to show us what he looked like closer.

We looked at all the different snakes in there too!!!

After lunch we went to visit the donkeys. We all had a little go riding the donkey. Once we had done this we then went on a walk to visit some of the cows where we met Autumn the cow who was only 4 weeks old.

We asked Lauren lots of questions about Autumn and Lauren introduced us to her family. Autumn was really hungry when we went to see her. Lauren then took us to watch the cows being milked. They were all so good and we watched all the different machines count the amount of milk they had collected.

Finally we went on a tractor ride around the farm where we met Jack the donkey and fed him some bread. He was pulling funny faces at us and showing his teeth, we couldn't stop laughing.
