Another fantastic week Reception Callaghan!! We have been up to so much this week it has been one of our busiest weeks! We have had lots of crafts involved, paint and special events with our Mummies. We have worked so hard at our new learning this week. Miss Callaghan is so proud of us all. 

This week in Reception we have been celebrating Mother's and Special Person Day. We have had time to think about why we love our Mummies and share stories of our Mummies. 

We have made some special things for our Mummies this week and had a Stay and Play to celebrate everything our Mummies do for us. 

This week in Maths we used the song '5 Little Men In a Flying Saucer' to count down from 5 to 0. We used our fingers to represent the Little Men and work out how many we had left each time. We then used a dice frame and aliens to represent our song. We cut our aliens out and places them on the dice frame and used our fingers to show how may Little Men we had. 

In Maths on Wednesday Miss Callaghan introduced a new Little Man to us. There was no space for him on our dice so we used loose parts to show the different ways we can make 6 on two of our dices. We showed Miss Callaghan that we can share our Little Men on our two dices in different ways. 

On Thursday we held our Mother's and Special Person Stay and Play our Mummies and Special people came to do some fun activities with us. We had a biscuit decorating station, cupcake flower card station, colouring ins, loose part flower making, flower garden making, tissue paper craft and a photobooth. We watched a special power point with reasons why we love our mummies and we listened to a lovely story on the carpet together with our special people. 

We made some beautiful Mother's Day cards, a magnet with a drawing of our Mummies, a love bug jar and some flowers home. We really loved making these and got excited to give them to our Mummies. 

To finish our week off On Friday in Maths we looked at building towers out of 6 blocks, we used 3 different size blocks to show them all having the same amount even if some are bigger than others. We made our own towers using the different size blocks. 

In Drawing Club this week we looked at Jack and the Beanstalk. We loved learning about Jack's magic beans and some of us drew his magic beans. Some of them turned in to "Princesses", "A Pirate Ship", "Shops", "A rainbow" and "A car". 

In Day 1 we drew the giant. We loved saying the giants line and made up our own!

In Day 2 we drew the giants castle 

In Day 3 we drew something for the police to catch Jack with

In Day 4 we drew something for Jack to spend his treasure on

We really loved this story and loved making our sentences up for our pictures. 

In PSHE we have looked at forgiveness and recognition. We talked about using kind words with our friends and what we could do if we don't use our kind words. We spoke about playing kindly with our friends and using our kind words, kind hands and kind feet. 

Finally in RE we have started to look at Ramadan. We have looked why this is a special time for Muslims and have started to create some special Eid decorations. We spoke about why Ramadan is important and who might fast during this time, lots of children was able talk about mummies and daddy's fasting and even older siblings too.
