This week in Nursery we explored the exciting theme “Under the Sea.” Our focus story was “Don’t Ever Smile at a Shark,” which the children really enjoyed listening to and talking about together.
Throughout the week, the children learned about different sea creatures that live under the ocean. We explored animals such as sharks, fish, and other underwater creatures through a range of fun and engaging activities. These included creative art, discussions about sea life, and imaginative play inspired by our story.
Our book of the week!
Our sound of the week!
This week in Nursery we have been learning a new sound ‘d’. The children were very excited to explore our new sound in lots of fun ways. We started by going on a sound hunt around the classroom, searching for the sound ‘d’ and looking for different objects that begin with our new sound. The children did a fantastic job spotting and naming items that start with ‘d’, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity.
The children also enjoyed tracing the letter ‘d’ in coloured sand, helping them practise the shape of the letter using their fingers. This sensory activity was a wonderful way for them to explore letter formation while having fun.
This week in our Scribble It lesson, Nursery had lots of fun creating their own fish to live in the sea alongside other sea creatures. The children used their imaginations to design and draw their very own fish, and we were amazed by the wonderful and creative pictures they produced.
On Thursday, Nursery had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day! The children were invited to come into school dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was wonderful to see so many fantastic costumes.
Throughout the day, Nursery took part in a range of different activities set up around the classroom, all linked to different types of books and stories. The children enjoyed exploring the activities and sharing their love of books with their friends.
One of our favourite stories we read together was Aliens Love Underpants. The children especially enjoyed this story, and we even had a go at decorating our own underpants just like the aliens in the book!
It was a lovely day celebrating reading and stories together. Well done, Nursery!
