Week 1

Nursery have been reading 'Maisy's Chinese New Year' this week to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year. Throughout the the week, Nursery got involved in many exciting activities based around this special festival.

Our book of the week!

Our sound of the week!

This week in phonics, we have been learning all about our new sound, ‘m’. The children were amazing at getting involved in all the different activities set out around the classroom.

Nursery really enjoyed meeting 'Matt the Meerkat', and they even had the chance to meet some of his friends too! Matt decided to hide in our outdoor environment with his friends, but Nursery saved the day by going on a hunt to find them all.

The children had lots of fun exploring the new sound through play and were fantastic at joining in with the activities. Well done, Nursery! ⭐

This week we celebrated Chinese New Year in class. The children worked together to create their very own dragon ready for our dragon dance on Friday. It looked amazing! They explored a variety of materials and textures while decorating it, using their creativity to make the dragon bright, colourful and unique. We had a wonderful time learning about the celebration and bringing our dragon to life for our special dance. 🐉✨

This week we have been exploring numbers up to 5. The children have been learning to recognise the numerals and developing their counting skills through a range of practical activities. We have been counting objects, using number songs and rhymes, and matching quantities to the correct numeral. The children have also been encouraged to count everyday items during play to help build confidence with numbers to 5.
