Well done for another fantastic week Reception Callaghan!!!
As we are heading in to week 4 lets have a look at all the fun things we got up to this week!!
In Drawing Club we have been reading How to Catch a Star. We have really enjoyed this book and shared ideas on how we would catch a star, we looked at pictures of stars and recalled stories of us seeing stars! We have started to write sentences in Drawing Club using our phonics knowledge to help us build our words when writing our passwords we have been so proud of ourselves for this.
In Maths we have been learning about equal amounts in different ways we built a tower with 6 blocks and knocked it down, we talked about it still being an equal number even if it all on the carpet, the children really enjoyed doing this themselves.
We enjoyed playing the 1,2,3,4,5 game showing equal amounts on our fingers and finding the quickest way to show the number on our fingers. We used numeral cards to represent the number too.
In UTW we looked at Astronauts in class some children told us when they are older they would like to also be one. We created our very own space vehicles in junk modelling. Thank you to all parents and carers who donated empty bottles, tubes and boxes you helped us create some fantastic vehicles.
On Tuesday we celebrated Penguin Awareness Day, we watched some videos of baby penguins and learnt some facts about penguins and their homes. We created our very own penguins too.
I would like to also say a massive thank you to parents and carers who came to our first weekly Phonics Stay and Plays, It was a brilliant morning with lots of fun activities, the children really enjoyed showing you around our learning environment and doing these activities with you. When parents left we had some children in the role play area reenacting this with teddies, this was so lovely to see.
Lets have a look in pictures what we have done this week....
