Reading books will be changed after your child has read their book and completed their reading quiz. Please ensure your child reads at least three times a week and please sign their reading record book each time they have read. Each read earns two house points, so there is a maximum of 14 house points on offer each week! Also, if children receive a high score on their reading quiz they will go up our reading rocket to win prizes and move onto a higher reading band.
Homework is handed out every Friday and needs to be handed in, completed, on a Monday morning (unless stated otherwise). It is very important to support your child's learning at home, especially as all children in Year 6 will have their SATs in May.
Spelling Tests are on a Friday.
Children will be given a new spelling rule to practise every Friday as part of their homework. They will also copy these down in class on a Monday and have the opportunity to practice them each morning in class through various activities. Children are also expected to practice these spellings and rules at home to further embed this knowledge.
PE will be every Tuesday afternoon this half-term and children will be taking part in basketball. Please ensure children have the correct PE Kit (white top, black shorts and black PE pumps). PE kits should stay in school and will be sent home at the end of each half-term to be washed.
Here are the links to some of the exciting websites that children use in school to support their reading, comprehension skills and numeracy. Children will have their own passwords and we will be able to monitor their understanding to support them further.
