Here are the resources you will need for Literacy, Maths and Guided Reading, for the week beginning 1.3.21, as well as some additional World Book Day activities the children can complete if they would like to.
Hello everyone!
Please find attached the timetable for remote learning beginning Monday 11th January.
There will be 2 online sessions every day from Monday - Thursday and one on Friday mornings. Friday afternoons will be free time for the children to access their learning on Reading Eggs, Mathletics and Times Tables Rockstars.
The sessions will run as follows:
Please may I stress that parents and carers DO NOT have to stay with their children during this time. During these sessions the children will have breaks, but can I request that you stay on the session for ease.
As this is new to us all, and to ensure that everything runs smoothly, please can you ensure that:
- The children have a quiet area to work in, preferably at a desk. If this is not possible please ensure children are not sat on the floor, as it is hard to work on the floor.
- Where possible, children have headphones in, to enable them to hear me better and to concentrate.
- Children have a pen, pencil, ruler and lined paper. Earlier in the year, folders were sent home with a lined exercise book in.
- Children have their camera switched on during lessons
- Children are fully clothed, in appropriate clothing
- Children are not eating, playing video games, or doing anything else that may distract them from their learning
- Children have been to the toilet before online learning starts.
I am very much looking forward to seeing you all on Monday!
Weekly numeracy work along with additional activities can be found on your child's class dojo portfolio.
If you have any further questions, or need further support, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Thank you! #staysafe
Welcome back Year 4!
I hope you have had a lovely Christmas break and I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!
I am very sad that we cannot be together face to face this half term! I pray that we will all be able to be together again soon, but, in the mean time, I look forward to seeing you all on Zoom next week! More information on remote learning from Monday 11th January will be coming soon.
Please find below your activities for the next 2 days. I have included Reading, Writing, Maths and Art lessons. I hope you enjoy them!
In the book, there is a chapter called 'How to Build an Igloo'. Using the link below, draw your own igloo and write your own set of instructions on how to build an igloo. You can set this out however you like!
I have also set activities on TT Rockstars. I have never set these before but hopefully it works! Let me know if there are any issues. Most of you will have been set the usual times tables, from 1 - 12, however some of you will have been given some trickier tables. If they are too hard, let me know, but I'm sure you are up for the challenge!
Art
Sticking with the theme of winter as it has been lovely to play in the snow over the past 2 weeks, I have attached a video to an art lesson with the Art for Kids hub, drawing a polar bear and an arctic fox.

This half term we will also have ICT lessons with Technola on a Friday afternoon, and French with Madame Jackson on a Thursday afternoon.
Please use Reading Eggspress as often as possible! The expectation in Year 4 is that children access Reading Eggspress for 30 minutes every day.
Homework will be set on Reading Eggspress and Mathletics every Friday.
Reading Books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. Children need to read with someone at home, before they can quiz and change their books. Once you have read with your child, please can you send me a quick message on Class Dojo as we are unable to send Reading Records home at the minute.
This week we have been creating our own fabric designs using the African landscape and animals as inspiration!

Well done to Dima for being our Gold Award winner today!
We have been putting expression into reading direct speech this morning in Literacy. They have done an amazing job! We talked about how the rules of speech help us to use different expressions.
