Year Group Closure

Home Learning

If your child's year group has been sent home to self isolate then the following will happen:

  • There will be up to five lessons per day, covering maths, literacy, reading, Science and PSHE. There will also be a chance for the class to share their Maths and Literacy work.

  • The zoom links will be sent each day via email and on class dojo for you to click on and access the lesson.

  • A register will be taken by the class teacher at the beginning of every Zoom lesson, if your child is not there, we will make contact with you to see why they are not joining the lesson.

  • There have also been tasks set by the class teacher on Reading Eggs and Mathletics for your child to complete. Please ensure your child accesses these programmes every day to support their learning.

  • All work and activities are uploaded onto Class Dojo and the class page on a daily basis for the children to complete. Children will also be able to complete their work in the books sent home in September.

Class Dojo

  • This will be your main way of communicating with your teacher. If your child is having any problems completing the work or you have any questions, please send a message via Dojo.
  • Work will be assigned on the class portfolios on Dojo. You can upload your child’s completed work on their portfolio.
  • Teachers will also be sharing good examples of work completed by the children in the class.

Expectations for the children.

  • Your child will need their folder, exercise book and pencil or pen.
  • Your child will be expected to be on time and access every Zoom lesson
  • Full dressed – no pyjamas or bed wear.

How should I set up my workstation at home?

  • It should be a quiet area in your home where there are few distractions – we need you to be able to concentrate and hear us clearly if we are on Zoom.
  • Ensure that all of your stationery is available next to you: pen (if you have more than one colour, great!), pencil, ruler, sharpener, rubber, post-its / spare paper, the work pack we sent home with you.
  • We will be asking you to use documents from the work pack that we sent home, please make sure this is readily available!
  • Have a drink of water near to you – do not place it near the electrical device if you are using Zoom!
  • Before you join up to a Zoom session, please make sure that your device is fully charged. Maybe you could keep the charger nearby just in case!

What will I do if I am stuck?

  • You can contact your teacher using Class Dojo or by using the class email address if you are not on Zoom. If on Zoom, please ask! Use your post-it notes / scrap paper to jot down any questions and you could ask them at the end of the lesson, when we return to school if it is not urgent or in the feedback lessons – check the timetable!
  • You could use the online dictionary if you are unsure of a word:
  • You can access White Rose Maths videos to help you:

Your child's class teacher will also be setting work to help them to continue their learning at home. Below are the links to your child's class page
