At St Luke's we are passionate about our the environment making every effort to have a positive impact on our local and global community. As a Christian school, we pride ourselves on being God's Earth Keepers.
At St Lukes C of E Primary School, we encourage all children to develop an awareness of environmental topics that impact our world. We provide children with an opportunity to take leadership of environmental issues in our school and local community. The incorporation of sustainability allows pupils to embrace our core vision and values of being 'Rooted in Love'. The Earth Keeper programme allows the school to embark on a path towards improving both the environment in both school and the local community. We hope that this will have a positive impact on the lives of pupils, their families and school staff.
To ensure that sustainability is truly integrated into our curriculum, it is imperative that environmental issues are taught throughout our History, Geography and Science lessons.
The Earth Keeper's ran a poster competition in school with hundreds of entries, as part of James Frith's initiative #PlasticPledgeBury, to think about innovative ways to help reduce the use of single use plastic in Bury. We had 4 winners from St Luke's and their work was proudly displayed in their very own exhibition in Bury's Art Museum.
