Dates for your diary!
Monday- PE, New spellings given.
Tuesday- Times table test.
Thursday- Homework hand in day.
Friday- Spelling test, New homework given.
Spelling tests will take place every Friday afternoon. We will be starting a new spelling system in Year 5. New spellings will be given on a Monday following a specific rule. Each morning the children will complete a short task to further embed this rule and ensure children are focusing on the rule behind the spellings and not simply learning for the test.
Children will still be expected to practise their spellings at home in preparation for the test on Friday.
Reading books will be changed every Tuesday and Friday, it is expected that in Year 5 children read at least 3 times a week. After each read, the page number should be recorded in the yellow reading record book and signed. There are 2 house points on offer for each day of the week, meaning if you read every night you could receive 14 house points!
This term physical education will be on a Wednesday afternoon and we will be focusing on rounders. Please ensure your child has an appropriate P.E kit (white t-shirt, black shorts & black pumps).
P.E kits will stay in school and go home at the end of every half term.
Our Christian Value this term is... FRIENDSHIP!
This term we are looking at the importance of friendship and how to be a good friend to all. As part of our in class worship this week we created 5 golden rules for being a good friend and have displayed them in our window for all to see!
This term our class book is The Borrowers!
The children have already written instructions on how to make a borrower appliance and they are currently writing a recipe for Mrs Clock's cook book!
As part of their 2 week homework project, the children will be making borrower houses for the Clock Family. Take a look at some of the amazing houses we have so far!
Well done Leeya, Talha and Amna!
This week we focused on what makes us such a fantastic team in 5B.
Ashia said 'We are good at encouraging each other and caring about each other'
Daniel said ' we are proud of each other'
Ibraheem said 'We always respect others' ideas, opinions, faiths and beliefs'.
To show our teamwork we grouped together to make bridges from paper and tape. They had to be strong enough to hold up the play-dough and span the length of a table. Have a look at our bridges!
You may decide to practise your Numeracy or Reading skills at home as well as in class, therefore we have included links to Mathletics and Reading Eggs where you will be able to log-in and improve your knowledge.
Please follow the links below, your child will need their username and password to log in.
