2C had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day frown

We came dressed as super characters from princesses to The Gruffalo!

Throughout the day we did lots of extra reading and wrote some great book reviews about our favourite books.

This half term in Spring 2 our exciting topic is Muck, Mess and Mixtures.

We will be reading the story of Roald Dahl's George's Marvellous Medicine where we will be predicting and describing.

We will also be looking at different materials within our science topic as well as looking at different artists such as Wassily Kandinsky who used lots of colour and patterns within his art work.

This half term we will be the reading story 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl.

Have a listen at home ...

Roald Dahl - George's Marvellous Medicine (audiobook) Read by Richard E Grant

Have a listen to an extract from the story.
We made predictions about what we thought would happen to Grandma. Was your prediction accurate?
The audiobook is read by hollywood actor Richard E Grant, who delivers a bloodcurdling performance of Grandma. George's grandma has some very odd views. In fact, she's not a very nice person at all.

Animated The Easter Story

During Spring 2 the children will be leaning all about the importance of Easter within the Christian calendar. This video is a short version of the Easter story.
Throughout the year we look into different religious festivals for all religions.

ATTENDANCE surprise

In St Luke's we believe it is very important to be in school every day. This way you will not miss out on any learning as we build up to our Year 2 SATs. In 2C we have a super attendance board where every day that you are in your star will be moved along to the next number. All the children who have reached day number 5 on a Friday, meaning they have been in every single day, will be entered into a class raffle. 5 names will be chosen and prizes will be won.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT no

UPDATE:

We are now following a new reading programme called 'Accelerated Reader'.

The children will be taking a quiz that will assess their reading book range and they will be bringing books home to read within this range.

Once your child has read a book at home they will be able to complete a quiz on an Ipad within the classroom that will have a number of questions relating to the book.

Enjoy the news books smiley
